Description
Brouwerij 3 fonteinen is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Beersel. It was set up in 1887 by the Vanderlinden family in a newly built café and adjacent Geuze brewery. Both the brewery and the adjacent restaurant have been run by the Debelder family since 1953.
The writer-poet Herman Teirlinck was a close friend of the family and set up his artistic and literary club "De Mijol" on site. Armand Debelder, current owner of the brewery and second generation, is well-known beyond the country's borders for being a Geuze ambassador.
A computer-controlled brewing system of 1,000 litres was installed in association with Willem Van Herreweghen in 1998, enabling Armand to choose from a selection of his own Lambic beer and Lambic varieties brewed by Boon, Girardin and Lindemans during blending. The "Oude Geuze Drie Fonteinen" is kept in bottles for a minimum of ten months before leaving the cellars.
A good stock is after all of the utmost important for a Geuze blender. A brewery that is definitely worth visiting. Recently, Armand was awarded the Flemish regional produce label, issued by the VLAM (the Flemish centre for the promotion of agricultural and fisheries' products) for his "Oude Geuze" and "Oude Kriek".

Brewery visits
The brewery's high season runs from November till March. As this is a period of great pressure it is practically impossible to visit the brewery during these months. You can, however, combine a visit to the brewery during this period (by appointment) with a menu of choice in Restaurant 3 Fonteinen from €35.

The Debelder family has been running "Restaurant - Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen", located in the village square in Beersel, for over 50 years.
The restaurant serves regional dishes with Geuze and Kriek, fish specialities including mussels and eel ("paling in 't groen"), game and seasonal produce but also sandwiches with soft cheese, Geuze cheese or ham.
Café-Restaurant 3 Fonteinen is run by Guido Debelder, the brother of brewer Armand. Its menu includes a number of very special regional dishes, which were created by Armand Debelder himself. Each one a special dish prepared with one of the brewery's own beers.
