The town of Leuven can be found at a stone's throw from Brussels and no other place in Flanders appeals to one's imagination like this centuries-old town, location of the oldest university of the Low Countries. When strolling through Leuven one can't help but soak in the rich history of the town: the large beguinage (Groot Begijnhof, one of the largest surviving beguinages in Flanders), the Arenberg castle, the university library in the Ladeuze square, etc.Enjoy the jovial, exuberant city culture; Leuven might be a centuries-old town but it is still very much alive! In light of the age-long presence of brewery AB InBev and students in the town Leuven is sometimes referred to as the beer capital of Flanders and with reason, as the town still boasts several active breweries.
This special weekend package will take you on a tour around Leuven, the beer capital of Flanders. Included in the offer: one or two overnight stays; a tourist information package issued by the tourist office for Leuven in conjunction with Vlaanderen Lekker Land;; a walking map showing the pubs in Leuven;;; a beer tasting session in craft brewery Domus (sampling their "Con Domus" and "Nostra Domus")"; a beer tasting session in the historic tavern/inn Wentelsteen (where you will sample "Wentelkriek" & "Keizersberg" and enjoy a light snack)"; followed by a Triple beer and some appetizers (mixed tapas) in tavern De Dijlemolens and a three course meal (with accompanying beers) in one of Leuven's many restaurants.
