Wonderful cycling routes - On the trail of Adriaen Brouwer (province of East-Flanders)
The cycling route "On the trail of Adriaen Brouwer" runs right through the most attractive villages of the Flemish Ardennes. Starting off from the historic heart of Oudenaarde this route will take you through the rolling countryside, showing off some very beautiful parts of nature. And whenever you feel the need to catch your breath, you can stop off at one of the typical little pubs to enjoy a glass of the local top-fermenting ale referred to as "Oudenaards bruin".
The connecting theme of the route is the painter Adriaen Brouwer. To remind people of this notorious bon vivant, Brouwerij Roman, a brewery that has been around for four centuries now, has renamed its Oudenaards Bruin "Adriaen Brouwer". This brewery is, moreover, one of the main places of interest along this cycling route.
By using the numbered cycling map in the brochure you can follow the junction signposting of the cycling network of the Flemish Ardennes.
