"Leven in de brouwerij langs de Schreve"
DAY 1
Arrival at the hotel
A tasting session around ‘De Bosgeus' in the hotel bar or, weather permitting, on the terrace, while you enjoy the wonderful view of Het Heuvelland and ‘De Schreve'.
A three-course menu prepared with beer + a tasting session incl. Hommelbier (Poperingen) and Prior 8° brewed by the St.-Bernardus brewery. The menu is served in the hotel restaurant, offering a beautiful view of the valley and the woodland surrounding the hotel. Overnight stay in one of our 16 quiet double rooms with bath/shower or jacuzzi.
DAY 2
Breakfast buffet served in The Salon, also offering a memorable view of the surrounding landscape. After breakfast:
1. Trip to Reningelst (located at 8 km from Kemmel) by bicycle (at your disposal): you will be following the "Schreve-Route" (46 km long), during which you will be crossing the national borders on several occasions.
Along the way you will have the opportunity to stop off for lunch in Watou, at De Paterstafel or Het Hommelhof (located in Watou's market square). Bicycles are to be returned at the end of the trip.
2. Michiel Hendrickx Car-Motorbike Route through French-Flanders (on the trail of the Cht'is...)
3. Excursion on horse-back, with a scheduled stop to enjoy a local beer and a local speciality (in collaboration with Riding School Rodeberg).
4. Trip to Badhuis De Kraaiberg in Wulvergem (free shuttle bus),
where you can enjoy a two-hour session at the sauna & baths + a unique duo-beer massage
(in conjunction with Badhuis De Kraaiberg).
Afterwards, a visit to the hops museum in Poperinge (where you will discover everything there is to know about hops and Hommelbier).
Along the way you might want to stop at beer shop Cuvelier to purchase some of the local beers (Abelestationsplein 30, 8970 Poperinge). This shop boasts a selection of 300 regional beers.
Return to the hotel.
7 p.m.: 4-course menu ‘a harmony of gastronomy and beer' incl. Watou's Wit, Queue de Charrue, Oerbier, St.-Bernardus Abt 12°
Overnight stay
DAY 3
Breakfast buffet. Optional: a visit to the "Claustrum" (exhibition area) of the Westvleteren Abbey + a tasting session involving a genuine Westvleteren in "OC De Vrede" (across the road from the abbey). Trip to Alveringem and visit to malt-/brewhouse De Snoek (Fortem 40, 8690 Alveringem).
